The Campaign for 21st Century Salmon and Steelhead Management

Long Live the Kings (LLTK) thinks long-term about salmon recovery. It has taken more than a century to push wild salmon to the brink of extinction; it's going to take time and sustained effort to bring them back. By posing new questions about the issue, by focusing on science and on measurable results, and by building partnerships, LLTK has achieved unprecedented breakthroughs.

In 2005, we launched the $2.8 million Campaign for 21st Century Salmon and Steelhead Management. This ambitious fundraising effort builds upon the successful completion of the five-year, Congressionally-mandated Puget Sound and Coastal Washington Hatchery Reform Project. The Campaign will support four years of our work on the Department of Fish and Wildlife’s 21st Century Salmon and Steelhead Initiative, a visionary effort to redesign a natural resource agency in order to integrate decisions about hatcheries, harvest, and habitat, and become an internationally-recognized leader in salmon and steelhead management.

LLTK is providing strategic planning, facilitation, coordination, and communication assistance for this transformative process, and playing a unique and critical role in the State’s efforts to recover wild salmon. But we can't do it alone. Contributions from private and individual donors give us the flexibility to approach our work with the kind of creativity and imagination that has earned the organization a reputation as an innovator.

Please consider making a gift today to the Campaign for 21st Century Salmon and Steelhead Management. Your investment in this work is an investment in the future of the fish.
